Welcome to Unscripted Sketches sketch challenge! This week's sketch comes with a piggyback challenge to use something recycled on your project. Here is this week's sketch . . .
And here is my take on the sketch . . .
It is a seed storage box or bag, and here is my recycled item . . .
Yep, that's it, an empty soup mix box!
Now, I have to be honest with you here . . . I am scheduling this post on Friday night for publishing on Saturday morning, and right now it is storming here like crazy, so I'm going to give you brief details and leave you with some pictures - okay???
Okay!
Image is from clipart software. Patterned papers are Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety. Ribbon is from my stash. Cardstock used is just bits and pieces in my scrap drawer. Word garden and flowers cut using Cricut Expression, Fresh Picked cartridge.
Sorry for the abbreviated post, but I'm sure you'll understand. See you again soon! Becky
Thanks for visiting!
Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.
While you are here I hope you will find inspiration and ideas for making your own projects, however any images or projects you find here are my personal property and should not be used for your own monetary gain, or for contests or challenges. Thank You!

A New (to me) Challenge Blog - Papercraft Star!
A few weeks ago I found a very neat blog that lists the challenges available by day of the week. It's called The Daily Dare, and it lists bunches of challenges I'd never even heard of before, so I started checking them out. One such challenge blog is Papercraft Star, and when I visited it I found something cool . . . one of my new fellow design team members over at Unscripted Sketches - Regan - is also on the team at Papercraft Star! Well, of course I had to play along! The challenge is to create an Easter themed project with at least one of these colors . . .
Can't get much springier than those colors, now can you? And I had recently found this very sweet chick on a vintage Easter card online and wanted to use it, so here is my take on the challenge . . .
Don't you love this tag!?! Here are all the details . . .

Tuesday Trigger . . . Moxie Fab World
Moxie Fab World is one of my all time favorite places to find inspiration in my papercrafting projects. It is a part of Paper Crafts Magazine organization, and led by Cath Edvalson who is always bringing us a wide variety of pictures of lovely and trendy things to inspire us. I especially like being a friend of all three (MFW, PCM, and Cath) on Facebook, because there is always new inspiration right there on my news feed just for the taking.
This week's 'Tuesday Trigger' is so gorgeous! It is so me that I just had to make a card based on this picture . . .
If you only knew, Cath, that my kitchen table is antiqued red, my grandmother's old cabinet beside the table is mustard yellow, and the bench next to that is bright royal blue. I love vintage, I love color, I collect vintage aprons, and I love this picture! Here is my take on the challenge . . .
Here are all the details . . .

Here are all the details . . .
Product Info:
- Base cardstock is Die Cuts With a View
- Patterned papers and strip with red numbers are all from Echo Park's new 'For The Record' line by Bella Road: Vintage Linen, Picket Fence, and Borders
- Red frame is from Tattered Angels 3 in 1 Framed Font Chips (see how I made it red below)
- Paper doily, vintage button, red twine (from dog food bag) are from my stash. So is the vintage taffeta ribbon that I found recently at an estate sale.
- Sentiments are from SRM Press - Sticker Sentiments #51006 Thinking of You
Bits and Tidbits:
- Card base was cut using Cricut Expression, A Child's Year cartridge, StPtrk-s using card feature set at 7"
- Distressed paper doily with brown ink
- Red Frame: inked with red ink, dried with heat gun, inked with gold ink, dried with in gun, inked with VersaMark, added thick coating of Ranger 'red' embossing powder and melted with heat gun.
- Adhered patterned paper to back of frame, added sentiment sticker.
- Cut pieces of patterned paper to fit card, adhered with glue, added numbered strip to cover where papers joined.
- Added sentiment sticker to bottom of card.
- Glued doily and frame to top of card.
- Cut slit size width of ribbon in fold of card, threaded ribbon through and tied into a bow. Added vintage button threaded with red twine.
And that is how it all came together! I love this card, of course I love the colors, but I also love the cheeriness and sentiment. We all know someone who is having a hard time and could use a little cheering up; a few happy thoughts! Thanks for visiting today, I would love it if you would leave a comment and let me know you were here and what you thought of my card. Blessings friends! Becky
Out Of My Zone . . . Comfort Zone, That Is!
I can't believe I never shared this project with you, but as I was straightening up a bit I found this tag mini album that I made and never posted! If you are a regular here, you know I'm not a scrapbooker, and that cards, tags and banners are my papercrafting projects of choice. But a while back I was in a mood to try something different, and this project was born!
The details . . .
The details . . .
- All papers are from a K&Company 'Roam' Mat Pad
- Base of pages are #5 manila tags 2 3/8" x 4 3/4"
- Embellishments are all from my stash, and mostly bits and pieces. I will say the gems are from Prima eLine
- I trimmed all papers to fit the card and inked the edges with brown ink.
- Each tag is decorated on each side, in an order that makes the back of the first match the front of the second, and so on.
- Tags are attached with a metal 'book ring' and the ribbons are simply tied onto the ring.
And here is the album . . .
The Album - Seven Tags, Two Sided
Standing Up View
Pages 2 and 3
Pages 4 and 5
Pages 6 and 7
Pages 8 and 9
Pages 10 and 11 - The ribbon on the tag to the right was sewn using a decorative stitch on my sewing machine.
Pages 12 and 13 - Love how the vintage lace matched this paper!
Front and back are identical, album can be used in either direction.
Better view of the ribbons and lace.
I really enjoyed making this, and think I may try to make some more to sell at shows this summer. This being my first, it will probably have to stay with me! As a crafter I am really finding that I only get better when I push myself out of my comfort zone and try new things. I am so glad I left the safety of my comfort zone and made this album, and I hope you have enjoyed your visit! Blessings, Becky
