Thanks for visiting!

Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.

While you are here I hope you will find inspiration and ideas for making your own projects, however any images or projects you find here are my personal property and should not be used for your own monetary gain, or for contests or challenges. Thank You!

Joy to the World!

Good Morning!!! Do you ever make something that you stress and obsess over, and then when it's finished you just L*O*V*E it??? Well, that's me with this card. I just love it! I actually started out making it for a challenge on Melissa Phillips blog. You can fine her HERE. Let me show you the card, then I'll tell you all about it.

Melissa's challenge was to make a card using felt in creative ways. I'd been sitting on this clipart image for a while, but never quite knew what to do with it, but knew it was time to put this sweet little girl onto a card. The first thing I did was distress the image with a little brown ink, then coat the edges with glue and some ultrafine glitter.

While the glitter was drying, I cut a strip of brown felt using my rotary cutter's 'squiggle' blade on both edges. This gave me a cute, sort of scalloped edge. Next I added a piece of ivory paper lace that I also inked with brown ink, and topped it with a gorgeous piece of green velvet ribbon. The button came from Buttons Galore and More, and the ribbon came from One Hundred Wishes - both of which you can find online.

I then cut a heart from a piece of mauve felt, whip stitched around it with embroidery floss and put it on top of a piece of Basic Grey cardstock I'd inked with brown ink. With a little bit of effort, some ugly green plaid chipboard became a glittery gold delight! I sanded it down a bit with an emery board, inked it with brown, dried that, then inked it with gold ink and heat embossed it with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Once it was cooled I added some diamond Stickles for a little bling.

And, while the Stickles was drying I went online in search of Christmas music. After only a few minutes of googling I found a website devoted to Christmas sheet music, and it's all printable in several different formats - cool! I printed "Joy to the World" onto ivory cardstock, trimmed around it, scissor distressed it, crumpled it into a ball, inked the edges and the creases, then put it onto the card. The glue was dry on the picture by then, so I placed her on top of the music. The poinsettias were cut from more vintage clipart, trimmed, inked, and a bit of Stickles dropped onto the centers for a tiny bit more bling!

This card will definitely be sent to someone special, and now that I've found the Christmas music website, I just want to make some more cards! It's playday for me - how are you spending your day??? Blessings friends, Becky
