Thanks for visiting!

Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.

While you are here I hope you will find inspiration and ideas for making your own projects, however any images or projects you find here are my personal property and should not be used for your own monetary gain, or for contests or challenges. Thank You!

Daring Cardmakers "The First Letter"

Good Saturday Morning! It was one of those almost sleepless nights last night, so I spent a big part of it playing quietly in my office/studio. The result is this card for Daring Card Makers dare this week to put as many items on your card as you can that begin with the same first letter as your name. Luckily there are TONS of pretty things that start with a "B", so I took the dare and ran with it!

I began with the color scheme of Beige, Blue and Brown - a combination that I love, so that first choice was easy enough. Then I sat down and wrote up a list of things I could use that started with "B" and I got all of them but one on there, and added another, so It worked out well! If you include the three "B" colors, I had 11 different elements that qualified! Here we go . . .

This card is titled "A Beautiful Birthday". The sentiment was printed onto ivory cardstock and cut out with my Cuttlebug and the Spellbinder Nestabilities small circle set, using the 3rd smallest die.

I'm sorry about the lighting, but there are clouds moving in today and the sun wasn't very cooperative!

One of the things on my list was 'Brackets', so I took a chipboard Bracket, inked it heavily with brown ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powders. I don't know if you can tell the texture, but it has a kind of bark-like look to it. That Bracket became the limbs of a tree.

Of course I wanted a Bloom on this card, so I used some Petaloo flowers , with a Blingy frosted Brad.

Also on my list was "Buttons", and I used three vintage white milk glass Buttons, threaded with Brown Bakers twine.

Of course one of my favorite elements on a card is a little Birdie, so I made this one of Brown Bazzill cardstock, with a Blue Bazzill wing, which I inked slightly with Brown ink. I used foam squares to pop the Birdie off the page a bit, too.

Another on my list of favorite elements has to be a Butterfly! I traced this one onto a piece of very old paper from a very old journal, then cut it out and folded it so the wings would be more 3 dimensional.

And my last "B" on this card is Bling in the form of gold German glass glitter on the Butterfly, a pretty green rhinestone for the Birdie's eye, platinum Stickles here and there on the Bracket Branch so it looks like it's kissed by the sunlight, and more crystal Stickles on the leaves.

I hope you've enjoyed visiting today! I'll be back as soon as I have a chance to make something else, but it's almost Thanksgiving in the US, and I'll be cleaning and cooking in preparation for our big day. And wherever you are, I wish you blessings! Becky
