Thanks for visiting!

Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.

While you are here I hope you will find inspiration and ideas for making your own projects, however any images or projects you find here are my personal property and should not be used for your own monetary gain, or for contests or challenges. Thank You!

Tag Tuesday Challenge . . . 'The Deep'

Hello there!  I know, it's been a while since I've done a post, but last week we were on Florida's gorgeous Emerald Coast for a week of camping and resting and relaxing.  And it was a wonderful week!  You can read more about that over on my other blog.  I missed a few challenges, and even my Unscripted Sketches DT cards were made, but I didn't have time to get them scheduled ahead of time.  I will share them with you later.

But now I am back, and once again participating in Rebecca's new Tag Tuesday Challenge where this week's theme is 'The Deep', as in the deep blue sea.  And once again I'm going off in my own direction, and I love it!  When I saw the theme I went looking for an image and found this cute image from a collage sheet I bought from a seller on Etsy.  It is two pages full of images from Mabel Lucie Atwell.  If you are interested, Maggie at phenomenon1859 has a sale on her collage sheets . . . any five (5) for only $3.00 . . . and that really is a deal!  Click on  the link above to go directly to her Etsy shop.

And here is my tag . . .

And it was so easy to make!  I took a scrap of navy cardstock, glued it to a #5 manila tag and trimmed around it, then simply printed out two copies of the image, trimmed and matted the first one with scraps of both red and white cardstock, then I cut out the little girl and her skis from a second copy of the image, bumped it up with foam dots for some dimension.  I added a pewter sea star charm, and some Stickles on the waves and a bit on her hair.  A bow made from a bit of red, white and blue ribbon was just the right finishing touch!

I said before that I went off in my own direction and want to explain.  You see, most of the artists who participate in this challenge use stamps and other media that I just don't use.  Plus, many of them use more Victorian and artsy ephemera than I do.  I tend to like the brighter colors and retro type images that are very different from most.  And that's fine with me!  While on vacation I re-read an old favorite book, and one line that always stands out is "It takes all sorts to make a world", and when it comes to art and artists, that is most definitely true!  For, how dull and boring if we all did exactly the same things!

Thanks for visiting, and I'll be right back with some cards for Daring Cardmakers!  Blessings friends, Becky
