Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge - Shaped Cards

I am always on the lookout for new card making challenges, and I just found a very nice one today.  It's called Sugar Creek Hollow, and they specialize in Vintage, Shabby and Primitive styles of cards.   This week their challenge is to make a shaped card (other than rectangle or square) in one of those styles.  Here is my card based on their challenge . . .



And here are the details . . .

Supply List:

  • Cardstock is from Die Cuts With a View
  • Patterned paper is from the K&Company 'cut n paste' stack (I LOVE this stack!)
  • Image found online and printed after saving to my file and editing in Picasa
  • Sentiment is from SRM Stickers - #51005 Thank You
  • Stickles 'crystal' and 'platinum'
  • Ribbon and lace from my stash 



The Tools:
  • Cricut Expression and A Child's Year cartridge
  • Scissors and craft knife
  • Computer and ink jet printer



The Tips:
  • Images can be found in many places, and one of my favorites is on Flickr.  You can save many of the files (some people don't allow saving their images) to your photos and then print them in various sizes.  This one was printed using Picasa software, set at 'wallet' and 'shrink to fit'.
Note:  When I saw this challenge, I remembered a sketch on Card Patterns a few weeks ago.  I didn't have a chance to get a card made for their challenge, but used their sketch for this card, so 'Thanks, Card Patterns'!!!
