Thanks for visiting!

Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.

While you are here I hope you will find inspiration and ideas for making your own projects, however any images or projects you find here are my personal property and should not be used for your own monetary gain, or for contests or challenges. Thank You!

Love Is In The Air!

Hi Folks!  I just wanted to share some Valentines cards I made recently.  They are now up for sale on Etsy should you be interested.  First Up:

A set of four 5" square cards with envelopes.  All papers are from DCWV stacks, glitter is Stickles Icicle.

Next up:

A set of five LOVE tags of pink DCWV cardstock.  The LOVE word is cut of red cardstock with a shadow of white.  The heart and scallop at the bottom are coated with red German glass glitter.  Bright pink grosgrain polka dotted ribbon top the curvy tags, and there's a bit of doodling around the perimeter of the card with a fuschia glitter gel pen.

All of these are up for sale on my Etsy shop, along with a bunch of other cards.  If you are interested, you can visit my place by clicking HERE.

Moxie Fab World - Taintor-Tude Challenge

Once again I have a card for a challenge on the Moxie Fab World blog.  The challenge this time is to make a card inspired by Anne Taintor's hilarious, and very creative items which are sold in stationery stores and gift shops all over the place!  You can see a number of examples HERE and I think you'll love them.  Here is my take on the challenge . . .

And the info for this card is very simple . . .

Grey cardstock:  Bazzill

Black cardstock:  DCWV

Image from clipart software

And my one concession to 'bling' is the tiny dot of platinum Stickles on the brooch on the lady's collar.

I love this card!  It's so totally not me, but it just flowed from my fingertips, and I want to thank blog hostess Cath for putting a challenge out there that made me get away from my usual 'more is more' style of cardmaking and lean more to the humorous side of the craft.  Thanks for visitng, and until next time, blessings, Becky

Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger

I love Paper Crafts Magazine!  In fact, I now have in my little hands my very first 'subscribed' copy, the Janauary/February 2010 issue.  And loving PCM the way I do, it's no wonder I love their blog 'Moxie Fab World'!  If you've never visited this blog, hosted by Creative Editor Cath Edvalson, you really should check it out!

Each week they have 'Tuesday Trigger', which is a photo that you are to use as inspiration for a card.  This is my first week participating in Tuesday Trigger, but I'm really pleased with what I came up with!   Here is the picture for this week's inspiration . . .

And here is my take . . .

And all the info . . .

Cardstock:  Kraft cardstock (Sorry, can't remember who it's by or where I got it!)

Paper Lace:  One Hundred Wishes  (They have made some changes to their website, and I don't believe they sell this any longer, but it's still well worth a visit!)

Paper Flower:  Cut pages from an old school book that was my grandmothers.  I used the Cricut cartridge "Walk In My Garden" cartridge 'blossom' in various sizes, glued them together at the center, scrunched them and put a heart button from my stash in center.

Ribbon:  Stash, don't know manufacturer or retailer

Sentiment:  Melissa Frances Rub-ons

I love this card, and hope you like it, too!  I'll be back in just a minute with another card for a Moxie Fab World Challenge - The 'Taintor-Tude' Challenge.  Blessings, Becky

An 'All Cricut' Project

The idea for this project kind of 'bubbled around' in my head for a couple of days before I finally sat down and worked on it.  I have to say it took a lot of little pieces and glueing tiny bits of cardstock together.  Thank goodness for my Zig 2 Way Glue pens!  I have both the fine tip and chisel tip, and they are great for glueing those letter shadows and letters together!

I hope you like this project as much as I do!  It is a door hanger that you could hang in your kitchen to let the family know if you've cooked, or if it's delivery for dinner tonight!  I had to do two pics, so here is one side . . .

and the other side . . .

And a few spotlight pics . . .

And I have a question for you!  Does anyone know what this hole is for???  Look in th picture below.  There is an extra hole below the hole for hanging over the doorknob.  I have no clue what it's for, but hope to come up with some way of covering it up or embellishing soon!

And here is my products list . . .

Base (yellow) and black cardstock is by Bazzill

Red and white cardstock is from a Die Cuts With a View (DCWV) cardstock stack

Cricut Info:
  • Door hanger is cut using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More, hanger1, mirrored, at 10 1/2 inches.  I scored it in the center, folded and glued it together
  • Phone and soup pot, words soup and chef are cut using the From My Kitchen cartridge
  • Letters are cut using Plantin Schoolbook cartridge
As I said above, this involved a lot of tiny pieces, but I love the way it looks!  I'm going to hang it on the magnetic hook on my refrigerator door!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you will visit again soon!  Blesings, Becky

A Play Day, and Valentines Cards

Yesterday (Saturday), with snow still on the ground (see post HERE) and high temps in the low 20's and wind chill temps around the zero mark, I stayed inside, in my PJ's ALL DAY, and played and played!  I'm learning how to use my new Cricut a little better now, and so I put it to good use making a few Valentines cards.  I had such a nice day!

Here is the first card.  The red 'cut-work' was done on the Cricut using my new (and new favorite) cartridge, the Mother's Day 2010 limited edition.

And a spotlight pic . . .

And the products list (a very short one for a change!) . . .

Cardstock is from a DCWV cardstock stack

Gems are 'bling it' rhinestones from Basic Grey

Cricut info:
  • The 4" square card was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartridge, card 2 set at 4 inches
  • The cutwork was cut using the Mother's Day 2010 Limited Edition cartridge, Doily 2 set at either 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 inches (my old timers has set in today!)
This was a very simple card because the machine did most of the work.  I will say that . . .
  1. it takes quite a while to cut, and
  2. thank goodness for my Zig 2 Way Glue Pens (fine tip and chisel tip) because they made glueing all those little red lines much easier, and no, I didn't glue each bit, but the outer edges and larger bits.
Card # 2 is another 4 inch card . . .

And a couple of spotlight pics . . .

And the product list . . .

Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWV "Prints for the Year"  Ultimate stack

Stickles 'stardust'

Gems from Basic Grey 'bling it'

Cricut info:
  • The 4" square card was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartridge, Card 2 set at 4 inches
  • The patterned paper was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartidge, Card 1 set at 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 inches
  • The heart and letters were cut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge
  • The white frame was cut using the Mothers Day 2010 Limited Edition cartridge, Frame 3 set at I believe 3 1/4 inches
I really like this card, and could make tons of them since the parts come together very easily!

The next two cards are 5 inch square cards.  The first one was VERY easy!  Here is a picture . . .

And a couple of spotlight pics . . .

 And my product list . . .

Lavender cardstock is Bazzill

White cardstock and patterned paper is DCWV from same stack as above

Scrunched seam binding is from Grandmother's Lilac Bush collection from Bluebird Lane

Millinery flowers are from Glitter Your World

Cricut Info:
  • The 5" square card was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartridge, Card 2 set at 4 inches
  • The patterned paper was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartidge, Card 1 set at 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 inches
  • The 'love' sentment was cut on the Walk In My Garden cartridge set on 1 1/2 inches, with the white cardstock cut on the same, but adding shadow
And the last card for the day, and my favorite is . .

And a few spotlight pics . . .

 And my product list . . .

Pink, yellow, blue and lavender cardstock is Bazzill

White cardstock and patterned paper is DCWV from same stack as above

Ribbon is 'ribbonFX' from Hobby Lobby

Buttons are from my stash

Left and right flowers are bumped up on foam squares

Cricut info:
  • The 5" square card was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartridge, Card 2 set at 4 inches
  • The patterned paper was cut using the Walk In My Garden cartidge, Card 1 set at 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 inches
  • The 'love' sentment was cut on the Walk In My Garden cartridge set on 2 1/2 inches, with the white cardstock cut on the same, but adding shadow
  • The flowers were cut on the Walk In My Garden Cartridge using (left) 'crpsis' set at 2 inches and blue shadow at the same, just using 'shadow', and (center and right) 'blossm' set at 2 inches and shadows at the same, just using 'shadow'
I  L*O*V*E this card!  It just came together so easy, and it could easily be used for an Easter, birthday, baby, etc. card by just changing the sentiment.  My problem now - gotta find some 5" square envelopes!

Thanks for visiting, I've enjoyed sharing my play day with you.  Now back to making some more cards!  Blessings, Becky
