Thanks for visiting!

Welcome! This is the place where I share my artsy and crafty projects. I am an evolving artist these days ... finding myself enjoying less of the cards and mini albums that I have made for years, and turning to art journaling and more artistic endeavors. I have always enjoyed some craft or other, and some of my earliest memories of my mother helping me make paper dolls and other crafts. I am now in my 60's and finding myself more passionately enjoying creating beautiful things and learning new skills and techniques and products.

While you are here I hope you will find inspiration and ideas for making your own projects, however any images or projects you find here are my personal property and should not be used for your own monetary gain, or for contests or challenges. Thank You!

Mojo Monday Sketch 144 Challenge

In case I haven't told you before, I really love doing sketch challenges!  You see, my tendency is to go off in my own direction and create from my heart, but sketches push me just a little bit out of my 'free and easy' comfort zone and make me concentrate on following someone else's vision.  It's a good thing, I promise!

The folks at Mojo Monday really come up with some great sketches, and this week (#144) is no different, in fact, it's lovely!  Just the picture of the sketch is pretty, so how could a card made by the sketch not be pretty?  Here's the sketch . . .

And here is the card I made based on their sketch . . .

"Hello"

And here are all the details . . .

Tools:
  • Card base cut using Cricut, Walk in My Garden cartridge, card2 set at 5 inches.
  • Bits and pieces cut using Carl PRT-100 Rotary Cutter - straight blade.
  • "Hello" label cut using Cuttlebug and Spellbinders 'Labels One' next to smallest die, and word hello was printed on ink jet printer.
  • Embossing was done using Cuttlebug and 'Swirls' embossing folder.

Products:
  • Colored card stock is all Die Cuts With a View
  • White card stock is Georgia Pacific 110# card stock
  • Birdhouse paper is American Crafts Backyard line "Cuckoo"
  • Birdcage with black bird is American Crafts Backyard line "Tweet"
  • Striped ribbon is from American Crafts
  • White flower is Prima
  • Flat yellow beads are from my stash
  • Stickles on birdhouses is 'Star Dust'

And that is my card for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge using sketch 144.  I love it, and think it is so cheery and sweet that anyone would love to find it in their mailbox!  Thanks for visiting, and come back soon!  Blessings, Becky

Thank You My Minds Eye!!!

Just before Christmas, the blog for one of my favorite companies for scrapping products, My Minds Eye, was having a '12 Days of Christmas' giveaway contest.  They gave prizes every day for 12 straight days, and I was the fortunate one to win day six!  A set of papers from a line of my choice.  I chose Ooh La La For Her . . .

. . . and I reasoned that since it was the holidays, it might be mid January before I got the goodies, so I sat back and waited.  And waited.  Finally, the last week of January I e-mailed them and asked about the goodies I was so anxiously awaiting.  Before long I got a very nice, and very apologetic return e-mail.  The employee (who shall remain nameless), was so sorry, she had forgotten to send my address to the people who were supposed to send out the goodies.

I e-mailed her back and told her it was okay, I understood that she had had the holidays and then CHA and I was sure she'd had much more to do than keep up with my goodies.  I got another note from her, and she thanked me for being so understanding, and was going to send me BOTH of the Ooh La La lines to thank me!  And so I got this one as well . . .

How cool is that!!!  So, I finally got them the other day.  Apparently the brown truck had a hard time getting here with all the weather issues around the country, but that was okay!  I knew my goodies from My Minds Eye were on their way.  (Have I told you how much I love MME??? Yep, I thought so!)

So of course I had to make a card first thing, and here is what I came up with . . .

And here is all the info . . .

Product Info:
  • Base Cardstock is DCWV 'Pastels' Cardstock Stack
  • Patterned paper is My Minds Eye, Ooh La La For Him
  • Octagon print is 'Frivolous'
  • Circle under the bird is 'Simply Sweet'
  • Journaling Label is 'Playful'
  • Ticket and smal flower in bottom left corner of journaling label are from the 'Accessory Sheet'
  • Stitching done by machine
  • Bird made from felt using a template I lifted {sorry}
  • Rub-ons on journaling label and ticket from Melissa Frances
  • Gems from Prma 'e.' line Pearls and Crystals
  • Buttons, twine and lace from my stash (I love the look of offsetting the patterned paper and putting lace around 2 sides!)
  • Stickles 'crystal' used on small flower and circle under bird.
  • Circle cut on Cuttlebug using Spellbinders Nestabilities Scallopped Circles Small
  • Journaling label cut on Cuttlebug using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One
Cricut Info:
  • Card Base cut on Walk in My Garden, card 2, set at 5"
  • Patterned (octagon) paper cut using Walk in My Garden, card 1, set at 4 1/2"

So, what did I learn from this experience???  Well first, that patience really is a virtue, and second, that if you are understanding of others situations, polite and nice, it pays off in unexpected dividends!  Oh, and if possble, I'm an even bigger fan of My Minds Eye!

Have a great week, folks!  Becky

Carols Sketch Fun # 20

Another fun challenge today!  I recently found a cardmaker on scrapbook.com who truly inspired me!  She used deep, vibrant colors for things that most people do in lighter colors.  So I used her inspiration on the butterfly in this challenge - sketch 20 from Carol's Sketch Fun.  Here is the sketch . . .

And here is my take on the sketch . . .

And here is all the info . . .

Product Info:
  • Base Cardstock from Die Cuts With a View
  • Patterned papers are from an old My Minds Eye 'Wild Asparagus' stack
  • Butterfly paper was printed on cardstock from a clipart softwere.  It is old seed packs.
  • Rub-ons from a very old pack I got at Walmart
  • Butterfly antennae have Stickles 'platinum'
  • Red and green gems are from Prima 'e.' line
  • Polka dotted paper was glued onto cardstock and both were cut on Cuttlebug using Spellbinders Nestabilities 'labels 1'.  The label was inked with brown ink and bumped up with foam dots.
Cricut Info:
  • Card base was cut on Walk in My Garden cartridge, card 2 set on 5".
  • Butterfly was cut on Serenade Solutions cartridge, butterfly 3, one set at 2" and one set at 2 1/4".
I know I strayed a bit from the original sketch, but that's the fun of artistic license - you take an idea and make it your own!  I hope you like it!  Blessings, Becky

Life In 3-D for Just Buggin'

The challenge for Just Buggin' this week is to make a three dimesional project using your Cricut.  You know, like a purse or box or bag.  Luckily I had just finished these cute little Valentines favor bags and knew they would be just right for this challenge!

And the best part is I decorated them using scraps and freebies from my stash!

Product Info:
  • The base cardstock is DCWV from the 'pastels' cardstock stack.
  • The red cardstock is from just a bit I had in my paper scraps box, and I have no clue who it is by or where I got it, but it has a neat 'kraft paper' look to it.
  • The patterned paper is Fancy Pants, but it was just a couple of scraps,so I don't remember the name for that design.  I measured the bag and cut this paper to fit, and inked the edges a bit with a dark pink ink pad.
  • White organza ribbon from my stash.  The bag has a small slot on one side, so I fed one end of the ribbon through the slot and tied the tag on in a small bow.
  • Pink rosebuds are freebies that were on a package I received.  I used the wire on the rosebud to wind it around the handle of the bag.
Cricut Info:
  • Bag was cut using Tags, Bags, Boxes & More using 'giftbg'
  • Tag was cut using Tag, Bags, Boxes & More using 'scltop-h' using the 'hole' option

And that was it!  They are very easy to make and decorate, and I love how cute they look!  Just right for a few small pieces of candy or even a tiny gift . . . like, jewelery for instance!

Blessings folks!  Becky

Mojo Monday # 124 and More Amethyst

Wow!  I almost let this card slip by without posting about it.  I made it earlier in the week, set it aside and promptly forgot about it.  I had originally made it for Mojo Monday Week 124, but when I found it I realized it would also work for Daring Cardmakers dare to make something in the color of February birthstone - amethyst.

Below is the sketch for Mojo Monday . . .

And here is my card based on the sketch . . .

The product info for this card is really easy, mostly because almost everything was in my stash!  That includes the pink polka dot ribbon, the flower, button and both the striped and heart patterned paper, of which there were only small pieces, and no pattern or manufacturer info.

That said, here's the rest of the info:
  • Cardstock is from DCWV cardstock stack 'pastels'
  • Digital image is from PC Crafters
  • Rub-on is from Melissa Frances
Cricut Info:
  • Base of card cut using Walk in My Garden, card 2 set @ 5"
That's it!  How easy was that?  It's a windy, dribbly day here, but they say  the sun should shine through sometime this afternoon and tomorrow should be bright and shiny.  I hope you have a bright and shiny weekend, too!  Blessings, Becky

The product info . . .
  • All cardstock is by Die Cuts With a View
  • Rhinestones by Basic Grey 'bling it'
  • Glitter is Crystal Glitter, Ultrafine Gold by Mark Enterprises.  (Side note:  The glitter looks white and sparkly in the bottle, but gold on the card.  Go figure that one out for me!)

Bo Bunny Card Challenges - Two Challenges, Two Days, One Card

Okay, before I tell you about this card, can I just tell you how much I L*O*V*E Bo Bunny's products???  And one of my current favorites is the Alissa line.  I mean, why wouldn't you love lots of one of my favorite color combinations - pinks, black and white!!!  Oh, they threw in some other colors like green and turquoise and such, but in my mind they take back seat to the pink, black and white combinations.  And the fact they are two sided makes them even more fun!

I also love that BB is beginning to place more emphasis on cardmaking, and are even setting aside the first and third Tuesdays of each month for card challenges.  Just in the last week they have had two challenges just for cards, and I chose to combine both challenges into one card

So, for this card I (of course) used the Alissa papers, but I'd been wanting to use the back side of Alissa Kissable, which is all black, gray and white, for a while, and this was the day!    Here they are . . .

The challenge for Friday was to make a 'card with heart', or having hearts on the card.

The challenge for Tuesday was to make a card from this sketch . . .

Here is my card made using both challenges . . .

And here is the info . . .

Base cardstock is Die Cuts With A View (DCWV)

Black cardstock is Bazzill 'corduroy'

Bo Bunny Patterned papers:
  • Black and white is back side of Alissa Kissable
  • Pink hearts are using both sides of Alissa Love You
Bling is from Basic Grey 'Bling It'

Ribbon is from my stash - maybe Walmart, but not sure, I've had it for a while

Corners rounded using EK Success 'medium' corner rounding punch

Stickles 'diamond' used to highlight parts of the patterned paper.

Cricut Info:

  • Base of card cut on 'card 2' set @ 5 inches on Walk in My Garden Cartridge
  • Black cardstock cut on 'card 1' set @ 4 1/2 inches on Walk in My Garden Cartridge
  • Black and white patterned paper cut on 'card 1' set @ 4 1/4 inches on Walk in My Garden Cartridge
  • Hearts cut using Plantin SchoolBook cartridge, set at 1 1/2", 1 3/4", 2", 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" - I used the back side for the bottom, middle and top hearts, and the front side for the 2nd and 4th hearts
Extra info:  For the hearts, I scored down the center of each and folded it in half, then glued them together in a 'stack, matching the center fold of each heart.

I love this card, partly because of it's simplicity, but also because of the different 'layers' the different products (like bling, Stickles and ribbon) gave it.  I hope you like it, too!

See you soon!  Becky
